Bigger / Better brakes ?

Seeing as i am off to invade Europe in July with a few mates ( Cavalier Sri , Astra Gsi , Astra Vxr ) and we are doing Nurburgring and the Stelvio Pass ( God Willing ! ) i was told to invest in some better brakes than the standard set up on the 3.2 . Do people have some recommendations on good set ups ( discs/pads ) without going into crazy prices ( AP Racing et.c ) , Cheers !!

the discs are quite big bud 296mm vectra turbo 308mm or go alloy bells 325mm but then you need bigger calipers !! i have put ebc red stuff pads in mine and very good once warm !! :y

Over here we replace the Catera's single piston calipers with twin piston calipers from the 2004 GTO. Both cars use the same 296mm discs. Since the GTO and Monaro are twins, you should be able to fit Monaro brakes on the Omega. The brake design changed in 2005 and those will not fit. Also, the Catera's brake hose is too short so we use the GTO's. You can read about it at the Cadillac Owners/Catera Forum. The car's owner is CateraMV6.

From personal experience the brakes on a 3.2 will have no issues with Stelvio as long as you don't let it freewheel down in "D". Some forced induction would have been good towards the top. [smiley=evil.gif]
