overheating/diesel pump

my 2.5td started to get really hot on my way home so i pulled over let it cool drove the remaining mile home and topped up the water res as it was empty....2 days later it started to get hot again i pulled over no water again ....so water leak some where as no mayonaise on oil no fowling in water res so not head gasket......so's i takes it to local garage and they diagnose a leaking fuel pump?????????????? still unsure how or why :-? :-?

which fuel pump the 1 in the tank or the 1 up front?did that fix the overheating problem?
 from what i know from injection systems there is a flow of petrol that returns back to the reservoir, that is used to cool the system , but i dont know if it applies to TD engines also i dont understand the impact on the coolant-missing.
  1 thing else you should check(according to me-no expert) the clutch on the fan-maybe it is slippery and doesnt cool the engine properly...

How much pressure are you getting in cooling system?

no pressure in the water system.....been to see car today and it really is pissing diesel out everywhere from pump down right hand side of engine........been told a seal kit for pump is approx 15quid but approx 450-500 for a recon one...did see one on fleabay but aren't they all coded to the ecu???

Not coded as such, but later pumps will not work with earlier ECUs.

mines a p reg so what age range should i be looking for..i.e any before mini face lift.....one went on fleabay for 36.77 but i didn't bid as the geezer working on the car said they are coded to individual ecu :-?.....just found this?????

mechanic said the overheating in down to the engine labouring trying to keep pressure in the fuel pump ...is this plausible
