V6 cam locking kit
« on: 17 March 2008, 15:59:28 »

My cambelt needs changing this summer so I have started thinking about it as you do.

Kit inc tensioners I can get on Ebay. Also I will change the water pump as a precaution.

I have enquired about the DVD.

What about the cam locking kit? I know there are one or two members who loan to suitable OOFers but being in another country could be a problem!! Are they expensive to buy? Is there a secondhand market if I bought one?

but be aware of cheaper versions - that may be on ebay around £50...

Avoid companies such as Laser and head for SP (Sykes)

Also you don't have to change the water pump as a precaution it's not driven by the cambelt but by the auxillary belt that'l save you some pennies to get a SP align kit.

The car has done about 140k and has never had a new water pump so for the sake of about £40 it is worth my while changing it while I am on with the job methinks.

Yes, why not - not hard to do, gives car a coolant flush too and probably isnt even as much as £40 if i remember correctly ( if you shop around)

I'd get the part from Vauxhall partswarehouse Ebay as I have had other stuff from them posted to Spain without problems.

200207847690 is £27 plus about £8 postage. It would be double that here even from a Spanish motorfactors.

I'll keep my eye out for a cam locking kit on Ebay. Don't want to pay £150 for a new one!
