This is a common issue with the 3.2 engine.  I've had this come on twice now.  I think it stays on for another 12 or 20 starts (can't remember which) before going out.

Yep. Common problem with the 3.2. It will go out after a week's use.

You can reset it with a cheapo Tech 2 but I can't be bothered to do mine anymore. ::)

Quite a few of us on here with 3.2's have this problem. Generally the problem is caused by the pre-cats not being up to the job on a 3.2.
You'll probably find that your emmissions are fine.

Mine EML is on and off all the bloody time. :(  I've now resorted to putting a circular self-adhesive sticker over the light. ::)

Not sure if the light will be an issue at MOT. If you've got an MOT coming up I'd say do a search on here for cheapo Tech 2, get / borrow one and reset the light.

Cataclean is supposed to be worth a try as it improves the efficiency of the pre-cats and can stop the light coming on.

Emissions are in spec regardloess, because the light only relates to the pre-cat. The main cat will still be working fine and this will be enough to pass the MOT.

If you need the light reset for the MOT I've got a code reader and I'm not too far down the M3 (work in Fleet, live in Alton).

Can't see how a dashboard warning light could be an MOT issue, after all, that's all it is.....a warning light. As long as the emmissions are ok I don't see it being a problem.

It won't matter, my light was on during recent MOT and emissions were spot on.  Mine came on after being stuck in traffic for 3 hours  >:( and then a few days later, I noticed it wasn't on any more.

I wonder if there's anyone with a 3.2 who hasn't had this light on?  ::)

You will be fine with the MOT and the light on Mine had its MOT in Dec with the light on and it was fine the emissions where right on. The tester told me that it was 100% in that.  :y

By the way does anyone know how to remove the plastic cover off the front of the dash as mine is on now and thinking of covering it with something.
