Mayo in engine oil filler lid
« on: 22 March 2008, 23:08:50 »

The engine on my new 2.2 cdx is vibrating and hissing a lot. Been told to see if there is mayo in the engine oil lid, how/why does adding it help its cause?

mayo is the mixing of water and oil.  So if you get mayo anywhere, it mean water has mixed with the oil - not a good sign on 2.2 (v6 it happens due to condesation as it has long filler).

Any sign of exhaust fumes in coolant tank is the real test, or a compression test.

If you do lots of short journeys, don't worry too much about it!
