A chap off another forum i use lost his 19yr old daughter last july to a drunk driver. Originally the drunk driver was given an 18 month sentence and a 12 month ban, the ban would have been served by the time he got out of prison allowing him to jump straight back in the drivers seat. After a years worth of appeals they managed to get it overturned and a 4.5 yr prison sentence was imposed and a 5yr driving ban. But he still gets to serve his 5yr driving ban whilst being locked up for 4.5 yrs....

The father of the 19yr old girl needs 30,000 signatures for the law to be considered for a change....This is already found it's way through alot of various forums so it is gathering momentum..

Sounds sensible to me. I can't understand how sentences can run consecutively concurrently in any case. He's hardly going to have the opportunity to drive while in prison so what does the driving ban mean in practice? Damn all.

...Although these days it seems you can pop down the road for a packet of fags and a paper from the holiday camps they call prisons so I guess going for a drive would also be allowed in order not to infringe the "human rights" of the scum therein

Here in [ch304]stanbul died one very young girl in a vey crowded street (boy was racing) . The father for protesting the laws walk between cities and finally with the help of TVs was able to push the senate to change the law..Now if you hit somebody here and he/she dies the punishment is being sentenced to many years in jail ..
