Which Brake Calipers?
« on: 27 March 2008, 10:04:19 »

Hi folks,

I need to put a new set of brake pads on my Omega.  Just phoned the local motor factors, and he said there's two different sets of pads depending on whether they're Lucas calipers or ATE calipers.

Anybody know which calipers would be fitted to a November 2002 3.2 MV6?

Cheers  :y

There has always been the same calipers fitted to the front of the Omega on the V6 since the day it was made, only the 2.0 had different ones upto about 1997 and then it also used the same as the V6.

So it should be an easy one (not that I can recall which they are!)

Note, genuine pads are only £23.20 + Vat retail and £13.15 + Vat trade club

My 1998 2.5 V6 Elite has Lucas front calipers fitted whilst my partners 1998 2.5 V6 Elite Estate has ATE front calipers fitted - the pads are completely different and NOT interchangeable!

Check out some of the ebay on line shops - they list the two alternative front disc pads (ATE & Lucas) for V6 omegas!  One even has pics showing the difference - I'll try and post a link.
THe ATE pads have "ears" whilst the Lucas pads look same shape as rear pads.
