« on: 21 March 2008, 13:52:04 »

Hi

This is a long shot that somebody may know..I changed the front drivers door on my 98 2.5 Elite with a door from a L REG 2.5..[that's all I know about that car]

What I want to find out is, is the locking ring that locks the plug into the socket any different between my 98 2.5 Elite and the L REG plug..all the pins are the same in the L REG door, but I just can't push the poxy plug back into the door.. >:( >:(

Cheers Bruce

Changng the loom in the door is easy mate, the loom is made and fitted in such a way that all you do is unclip the clips holding it to the door and unplugging it from the various componants in the door.

Quite easy and should only take about an hour to do. :y

Cheers sir ffcgary1,

I think I'll give it ago then seeing as I have the original door in the house  (I'm glad I have a understanding wife ;D ) I can only f*** it up can't I, the door I brought is on the car already and thought that was going to be a bummer to do but it only took a hour with the help of my grandson, so I'll have ago with the loom...wish me luck and if I succeed I'll report back.

Cheers Bruce :y

Well I've removed the loom from my original door and also the plate that is riveted on where the side airbag sensor sits...so next thing when the weather get better, Is have ago at getting the other loom out, that one should be easy, I'll just cut it up into pieces  ;D..I'll leave the side airbag plate out until the last..because there's a lovely big hole where it will be riveted on..making it more easy to get my hands in the door.

At 67 years old I fill b****** ;D ;D ;D..thought I gave this up years ago ;D ;D

Anyway thanks guys for all the advice..will let you know how I get on
