The genuine part comes complete with the housing, but not the o rings you'll need.

It's much quicker to sacrifice the old housing by cutting a slot in it.

That way you won't be held up for days waiting for a out of stock transfer pipe.

The stat is built into the housing you have to change it all, if your parts shop has given you just a stat they have dropped a BIG un.
Buy it from Vx you'll get the right one then.

Dont neccessarily agree....   the stat can be undone and replaced without the housing on some....

Replace the complete housing and thermostat. I replaced one on our Corsa recently, turned out that it was the aluminium housing that wears where the thermostat disc seats onto it, sometimes it would settle onto a ridge worn in the ally and wouldnt seal so very long warm-up next day.

Halfords, Partco etc only seem to stock thermostats for the 2.0, not the V6 ones, dont know where they get their information from because they insist that there is only one type of thermostat fitted to all Omegas. We know different dont we. I was even told that my engine must be wrong >:(
Watch out for a later, 'improved' thermostat being supplied by VX dealers, the base flange is thicker so you have to get the matching longer bolts.
