ECU Cooling fan ?
« on: 06 April 2008, 12:43:17 »

Hi,
I was browsing through one of the e bay Vx parts supply sites, and saw an ECU cooling fan replacement for an Omega.

As in all the hundreds of threads I have read on this site I have never seen one about ECU cooling fans I presume they don't give much problem. (Thank goodness)

However, I wouldn't want to think about any ventilation slots getting clogged with dust etc like my home computer, so it seems to me it's something to be kept an eye on.
Can anyone tell me where the ECU lives on my car ? and if in fact it has a cooling fan ?

It's just that nothing has gone wrong with the car for a while now and I'm getting withdrawal problems !!!!

My ultra-knowledgable mechanic who 'rescues' & maintains mine told me that there was one - but I have never seen it

I had one; it was a Nautilus Shell fan, clipped in place behind (inside) the rear-curve of the NSF wheel-arch liner.....with a short length of moulded-plastic duct leading from there to the ECU/Relay box.
My fan had seized-solid (indeed `twas full of rusty water)....but that was in my pre-OOF days and couldn`t find a cheap replacement, so I left it off the car.....`been all over Europe in VERY hot weather since then and not had problems with a 'hot' ECU (`though what symptom that would be I can`t say?)  ;D
