Two questions.
1.  Can the clutch switch be bypassed to check if it works before i buy a switch
2. Is there any taletell that cruise is being used ie light on dash ect

Not really to question 2...other than the engine revs slightly higher to engage and you dont lose speed when you take your foot off the accelerator lol

No light on the dash, old cars with cable throttles, the cruise will grab and hold the gas pedal and pull it down slightly. So the pedal is pulled away from you.

I'm guessing it wouldnt be advisable even if you can...but then I'm just guessing...not expensive to get anyway

can be done buggering about with relays etc (can't just be shorted out iirc).  Obviously, when you go to change gear, rather than knocking out cruise, it will rev the 'dangle berries' of the engine.  Not really worth it in my opinion.

Yes the clutch switch can be bypassed as a bodge to check if the unit you are installing works.  Just bridge out the two pins in the plug.  you will also need to bridge out the two pin in the brake multiplug if you are still using your existing 2-pin brake switch.  It is preyy obvious - bridge out the two that are not in use

Remember this is a short term bodge to check it works nothing more (I dide exactly this when I fitted cruise control).  My view is that (lots of ifs here) you were involved in an accident and someone was sharp enough to spot the bodge you may have problem with insurance coverage.

As a test, its OK.  But to carry on using, thats being a pillock.

One of the engines/cruise combos didn't like the clutch just shorted out - it detected that the clutch hadn't been used and wouldn't engage.  Can't remember which one though.  Or even if it was an Omega for that matter ::)

Agree with TB here completely.  Bridging these switches is a VERY temporary, just test it once thing.  

My 2.5 did not object to a one off test so I'm guessing that the 2ltr will be the same

Thanks  you two.   I agree with that the boy i just want to make sure it works before i pay out for one ive got every thing else inc the brake switch conected.  Any idea how much a switch is???

The cruise unit is off a 2.5  so im hoping the same
