Facelift Bonnet Release
« on: 31 March 2008, 18:42:02 »

Hi.
Can someone please tell me where the adjuster is located for bonnet release cable as it must have stretched and no longer opens from inside car. I have checked there is movement at lock when operating lever but not enough to open, and I can't see where any adjuster might be. :( :( :question

Can't say for a face lift car but, on a PRE face lift car there's a clamp on the outer of the cable a few inches back from the catch (under the plastic cover?) that tends to allow the cable to slip through. Slacken the clamp off a little, push the outer away from the catch & retighten the clamp.

Well to open it in the first place your gunna need to open it from the car!

Get a mate to push down at the front of the bonnet, quite firmly, while you pull the catch inside the car. That should pop it open  :)

You may also want to check the adjustment of the catch on the bonnet (medium size nut on the end of the spring - adjust with molegrips if you haven't got the right size spanner).
