Hi all
Ive just had my omega in for service and have been told by the man that the nearside front shocker is weeping oh says i can you change it and how much well he said about 100 a side but you said only one he said if i change 1 both have to be done so around 200 + for job is this about right or could any able handed man on here do em im 69 now and dont feel like tackling a job like that especially if its a humping job
unless its a easy job to do

There about £45 from vx on tc and should be changed in pairs. is the £100 per side including labour and vat? :question

Bit steep in price, if you ask me, haven't changed the front, so don't know the difficulty factor, but I would have thought it was quite straightforward.

Get yourself a Haynes manual and read up on it.

changing front shocks is pretty easy:  I would say the humping factor is low......

Change both whatever you do and you'll find that it will tighten the handling up a bit.  I was surprised when I replaced mine.

Will need a spring compressor to do fronts, and will need to reset camber afterwards (whether garage do it or diy).  Easy enough job to do.

Makes me wonder if some of these garages know how to repair the Omega asked him when he could change the struts and would he be able to keep the camber setting or would it av to be reset at a specialist is answer was no not a problem they are factory set a new strut wont alter the setting Sheeeessss i just turned on my heel ill have a go at it my self

Agreed!  I reset the camber on mine with one of those spirit level gauges that fit on the brake disc.  I think it I got is roughly right as my tyre wear has not been too bad.  However as I'm now up for 4 new tyres I'll get it properly reset.

Hi all
First could i thank you for your replies but the saga goes on i ordered 2 front shocks said they would have to order them so i jacked up front and proceeded to change the passenger one and lo and behold wat do i find not a trace of an oil leak from the shocker i scratched head and thought must be other one that was leaking  bearing in mind garage said approx 200 to do job that too was ok. so i went to garage and told him but he said the gaiter ad ripped off and ad exposed it to weather but the gaiter is no fixed to bottom says i oh yes it is he said suffice to say thats me done with him i av now cancelled shocks on order. why do garages do this god dont they get enough out of us.
