Battery spec

Think my battery is on way out.Car wouldn,t start tonight,just a feeble click,tried jump leads on wifes clit(but it is French so ???) anyway no luck.Called RAC and in less than 30mins man arrived,plugged into van and up she fired.He then did a charge test,so alternator is fine but his machine suggested that battery should be replaced.I think it maywell be original or atleast genuine VX as is GO type.
Rang local stealers and they quoted £66=49 inc which sounded fine,but thought would also try Halfords.Their standard was £68 and their heavy duty cadium was £89.
Question is should I stick with VX or is their any benefit with the "bells /whistles "from Halfords.Also what should the spec of battery be for auto/v6.Thanks

VX batteries are fine. See if there's someone near you with a trade card and you'll get a much better price. Halfords batteries have been variable in the past IMHO. Depends whose batteries they are currently badging up as their own.

got my last one from exhausts unlimited (for the sennie) it was about £40,that was about two and a half years ago tho.

Just checked and it is 65a/hrs so will check with VX in morning that is what they are quoting me .At £66 I am quite happy to pay that even if not on TC,time is never on my side to look around.

2.5v6 66amp/hr GM66-H3 bout £50+vat retail...bout £35+vat TC  :y

Ive gotta get a new batt for my 2.2 this morning.....its definately struggling....thats only bout £25+vat on TC  :y

I am off to VX this morning ..will buy what is specified at £66 as like you need car.Mine didn,t somuch struggle as just wouldn,t turn ,so looks like it is going dead quickly.I had budgeted about £75 for new battery so not too sad even without TC,might look at getting one from ABS as things do crop up from time to time and £20 fee is quickly covered.

The batt i mentioned is the one spec'd for a 2.5  :y
If the delear is trying to flog you one with a greater capacity it'll be for a 3.0/3.2 and more expensive........tho its upto you which one you fit  :y

Mine will still start my 2.2.....but a couple of times a day if my 2,2 doesnt catch first go.....my data unit turns off....indicating a big drop in voltage.....plus when i had fuel pump prob last weekend i noticed i got max 10 secs of cranking time before batt gave up.
