dodgy lamp

my n/s dipped beam keeps going off as i am driving along.if i give it a tap it comes back on again (for a while). i have took the unit off and checked all the connections and had a look at everything but cant see anything amiss. any ideas ? :-/

Got to be a dodgy connector somewhere, try cleaning the contacts with some contact cleaner.

As said^^^^

Check all conections to the bulb, it may also be the bulb thats faulty ;)

when i tap it and it comes back on ,i hear a noise like an electric motor whirring,does that make any sense or ring any bells :question :-/

TBH I'd just stick a new bulb in! This happens regularly with rear bulbs and brake bulbs. I've never known it with headlamps mind... Probably a dodgy filament connection!
