Vacuum Leak
« on: 13 April 2008, 15:42:02 »

From what i've gleaned on here i believe i have a vacuum leak.
Just took the car out for a thrash and there is a delay between stamping the foot on the floor and the engine responding with a rise in revs.
My question is... where should i look? Are the vacuum pipes the skinny pipes (like what connects to the HBV) or are there others?
Is there a favourite place for a leak to originate from that i could start at...?

mine leak under the plenum from the old o-rings..

and if the plastic cover (ie gasket)  for ICV is old is another candidate..

the gasket between the pipe coming from the EGR and plenum is

another place to check..

Last thing what come in my mind the black ecotec bit has o-rings

around this may be last place to check..

ps: I dont think injector seals will leak very easy

With the engine running spray around lightly with carb cleaner, when the engine note changes THAT is where the carb cleaner is being sucked in by the leaking vac ... fix the leak then wipe the engine down with paper towel ...

results = no leaking vac, loverly clean engine .. :)
