pre wired trailer electrics socket
« on: 17 April 2008, 08:31:44 »

Ive just wired up the electrics for my towbar, my 02 Omega has a pre wired plug in the boot, everything wired in fine but when we carried out a check we found that we had no brake lights on the trailer, checked back the supply and found that there was no feed on the pre wired brake cable (yellow/black)! Ended up having to take the feed from the loom for the brake lights and put it through a relay for the bulb check system.
Checked all the fuses and everything as it should be! Its working fine but left scratching my head as to why the pre wired socket has no feed to the trailer brake lights :-/.
Note: Theres no bypass relay required on models with the pre wired electrics.

P.s Looking at getting a trade club card, How do I go about getting one.

You do need a relay put in up the front somewhere or you can bridge a wire.
Do a search it has been covered before ;)

You fit the trailer check control relay behind the blove box, which is what feeds the socket you've found at the back of the car.
