CHIPPING A 2.5TD
« on: 17 April 2008, 11:56:08 »

I'm looking at uprating my '98 2.5TD manual.
Can anyone give advice on what the uprated BHP will be, how much it'll cost, and who can supply/fit the chip? - before I go ahead!
Thanks all.

I know NOTHING about chipping a TD EXCEPT what I've read on the site .. however, before you do ANYTHING else check your gearbox !!!

If it's an AR25 - DO NOT CHIP - you'll blow the box within 100 miles !!  It simply won't take the torque.

If it's an AR35 - please continue your research !!!!!   :)

Similar applies - need to check which box you have - R25 or R28.  Although the manuals are reliable, if its an R25, not sure if that would take it for long.

Also, post up part number for ECU - if its a 428, if defo needs existing chip unsoldered, and new one soldered in (put a socket in!). 427, not sure about.  The 21x ones appear to be socketed.
