Hydraulic clutch adjustment
« on: 24 April 2008, 20:03:11 »

Firstly is it possible? Secondly, will it likely help me. The clutch will slip if i press the pedel at all, even the first soft 10mm or so. Very high biting point, and i'm suspecting a little clutch slip at WOT even with the pedel left well alone.

Hi Pedal indicates a very worn clutch, time to change it now before you ruin the dualmass flywheel bud!!! :y

anything wrong with changing just the friction plate? seem to remember its loads cheaper than an entire clutch pack, and that you can reasonably get two friction disks out of 1 pressure plate.

It would be false economy to change just the friction plate as the spring in the cover will be getting tired also, although I am guilty of doing it in the past :-[

An LUK (OEM manufacturer) clutch kit is about £120 from bypartsby.co.uk

Always bear in mind that, just because they are an OEM supplier, it does not mean that aftermarket parts are produced to the same standard or quality....   ;)

If they're really the OE manufacturer, in my experience, parts are pretty good. The main problem is that everyone seems to claim OEM when it's not true.

In the case of the LUK clutch from bypartsby they are excellent quality and the original part out of my car had LUK stamped on it.

The LUK supplied clutch kits are to the original OEM standard and VERY nice quality.
