brake light sensor?

MORNING ALL
got a problem with the old girl---NO NOT THE MISSUS-THE CAR  
eml comes on when you press the foot brake two or three times
in quick sucession knocking down revs for around 20 secs.then all
o.k.til i brake again.
can it be a sensor on the foot brake switch and is it easy to do.
ITS DRIVING ME MAD AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH.
can anyone help?      cheers!

Im not fluent on diseasles but here goes....

Pressing the brake pedal rapidly will exhaust the vacuum in the brake servo, if the vacuum pump (on back of alternator???) is duff then all other vacuum operated devices on the engine will also lose vacuum until the pump catches up.
For EML to light up something like EGR or waste gate must be detected as being in the wrong position due to no vacuum on its actuator.

Ill now duck below the parapet and await incoming fire from diseasle owners.

The EGR sensor failed on ours not long ago and shows up on deceleration, then goes into 'limp mode' and doesn't pick up properly. I think the same happened to another member, steve who has a DTi.

A bit of a shot. Hope you get it sorted mate, i'd get the codes read.
