Strange Codes
« on: 08 May 2008, 14:57:25 »

Bighed has been up to massive to get his Cam Cover Gasket done.
Put all back together started first time and no EML light on.
He drove a minute or two up the road and the EML light came on so he came back.
I did the paperclip test and codes 17, 132, 135 were there...
I have :
17 as Knock Signal Circuit 2
132 EGR Incorrect Signal
135 Telltale (Check light) Voltage Low

Went a drive to get some petrol up the road and the EML light went off and didn't return back on again....
Jon put a tenna's worth of petrol in and the Range did not alter at all.
But the EML was still off....
He is texting me as we speak on his way home saying his petrol light has come on, and the EML light is coming on and off

An ideas Guys????

I believe (?) the knock signal wire can (?) get caught under the cover when doing the gaskets if not careful ... might be a problem if the wire is damaged ?? This might (?) cause voltage problems to other circuits if it's shorting out ??

EGR - was it plugged back in OK ?? not worked loose ??

Petrol light - £10 ain't much these days, how much was in it before ??? could be telling the truth ?

Just a few thoughts ......  an expert will no doubt correct my errors....  :)

There is definately no wire trapped under the cam cover.....
EGR was plugged back in properly
And I did say the same actually about the petrol range about petrol prices, but Jon texted saying the Range had gone up to around 60 so seems that is working ok.....
Seems funny that the EML keeps going on and off though :-?

Been down to car while on phone to loo-knee.  :y Have found a wire trapped between (not under) the cam cover and a metal bracket. its at the front right hand side of cam cover. :'(  The wire emerges from just behind the big coolant pipe on side of block which goes th the rad. There is a big black connector on this wire. What is it??  :-/
