hi all

I feel ashamed because so far I have not been able to give any input into other peoples problems due to lack of knowledge concernin migs.

I took the beast out today for the 1st time since i purchased it.  I will add the drive back from the purchasee was about 60 miles and there were no problems at all.  Anyway uptil today I have replaced cam belt, aux belt, cam gaskets, cleaned breathers as per forum and replaced vacuum tank due to excessive insertion of multiram.  

The car ran lovely around town and country lanes for about half an hour, I then took it onto a dual carriageway, got it up to speed and then the engine died, rolled into a service station luckily and thought perhaps it was a fuel issue, so topped up. got car started again and proceeded back home only to find engine cut out again whilst in transit.

this happened about 4 times before i managed to get it home.  I did notice autogearbox come up in display once but that was on the 2nd stall.  

I carried out paperclip test and there are no codes present except 31 which would be correct  with engine not running.

I would appreciated any help with fixing this problem

thanks, thats what i thought reading through previous topics, just wanted to double check, especially as there were no fault codes.

these migs are bloody expensive hobbies.  looks like a trip to the stealers tomorrow then.

Where are you mate?  Please update your profile. There might be someone near you with a trade card.  Autovaux might be able to help, but make sure that the part you buy is genuine Vx.  Pattern ones are no good

you need to check your sensor first as there are 2 types and vauxhall are almost always wrong there is a square ended one and a Oval ended one my 1999 S Reg MV6 has an Oval type connector to check the connector you will have to remove the scuttle plate

i have a trade card and can phone you local stealer if you want and bullshit em saying my m8s collecting some parts for me heres my tc card num   usually works !

tmx thanks for the offer of your TC.  I've already been to the stealers and enquired, the parts bloke may smell something fishy if i go in and get it at trade price.  i'm too honest for my own good.

I've checked from under the car the black connector is oval, according to the parts dept though it depends on the actual sensor located in the block, which requires removal of sensor beforehand.

I've just carried out paperclip check with engine running, no faults are coming up but car is still cutting out, would that justify the crank sensor when warm. :question
