If you do find a leaky stud and can get to it you might be able to remove the stud and fit a new one with some thread sealant without removing the manifold. If it's leaking it's unlikely to be siezed, I'd have thought. :-/

Hi,
I don't know, I just wondered.
I personally wouldn't have thought they did, but as one of the bolts on the thermostat cover does, I suppose anything is possible.

I can't think of his name, or find the thread, but it's the chap who put the video of the factory making the v 6 engines, the one that starts with the car speeding accross the desert !!

Wonder if he might know ?

I was just beginning to build a theory about 1998 HG.  You've knackered that theory now ;D

You know Jaime thinking about this it COULD be HG but I'd expect it to get slowly worse, this seems like the start of a rotten gasket.

Seems too high for a core plug if there is one.

Next paper test lay it along the head/block join and also by each stud - I think this will find the area.

Not had time to look, as I don't get time during week.  Hoping to take another peek this weekend, and get a fresh set of eyes on it.

hi there just to let you know the exhaust studs dont go into the water jacket as standard, but i have known of engineers drilling out broken studs, drilling to far into the head and going in to the water jacket  >:(

i've done about a dozen or more heads on v6 engines and its quite rare for the gaskets to fail by them selfs (normal to over heat and warp the heads) its very common for the oil cooler plate to corrode and leak as there is no gasket here just grey sealer or the bridge seals to leak. hope this is helpful for you
