Heyup folks,

Had my X reg 2.5TD in for some work recently and since I got it back the NS rear mudflap is hitting ground when on uneven road, humps or taking a severe right turn!

The springs were replaced as a pair during the work but I'm just wondering if the independent garage has used the wrong type (unlikely as they have been around for years in our area) or if I should have them replace them with heavier duty types.  

Anyone got any comment before I go round to the garage and give em stink?

Something is definitely wrong there.  No way they should bottom out.

I'd do some basic checking myself:  compare left and right hand spring - should be identical: check shock mounting bolts: lower and upper.

Had it all jacked up this morning and gave it a good look over.  Everything looks fine, only thing I can think of is that the original springs have been replaced with either the wrong spec or the wrong type.  (They were changed during an initial service I had undertaken as one of the springs was cracked!)

Think I'll get the garage to swap them out for heavier duty options!

If they have fitted the wrong spec or wrong type then they should pay.  Don't go offering hard earned money for a heavy duty option if they have fitted the wrong thing.  I'm pretty sure that the TD uses the same rear spring as all the other omegas.  Front may be different because of the BMW lump but I'm not sure.

Any chance you can examine them carefully to determine make/ part number?  Research then whether they are right for the car.  Better to go back with the facts and then fight your case.  Having changes springs myself the car shoud ride a little higher with new springs

Has your car got  self levelling suspension.  If not, they may have fitted springs for a self leveller which are not quite so strong.

As already said, this is not your problem it's the garage, there are a number of springs available for Omega's, please take it back, explain the problem, but don't offer answers

Did they check the shocks at same time?  If they were shot, obviously that would have an effect.

Also, as mentioned, if it has self levelling, and the airlines have disconnected, that could have an effect.  GLS probably won't have self levelling, but certainly worth checking...

Thanks for the replies folks - will take back to the garage and get them to sort it out.  I'm of the same opinion that they haven't replaced them with the correct version suitable.

Talking of up-rated springs, any links to something reasonably priced ?  Can't warrant spending Eibach prices at the moment.
