Questions about TECHII and TIS
« on: 26 May 2008, 21:47:39 »

The below should not offend any legal/copyright issues. If it does, that is not the point of my questions.

Planning to invest a fair amount to some decent equipment to get to the "brains" of my car, and, as known, a real tech2 is rather expensive. Where to get one if I decide to take that? Now, a silly idea: tech2 is just a handheld device with some program inside: is it known that someone has that program separated from the handheld gizmo? My idea is to have the same "ingredients" put on a laptop etc...? Or, is it known that someone has managed to solder up a working "copy" of genuine tech2 thingy from commonly available parts

If not a real Tech2, what is the second best bet? It should be able to discuss with 2,6 engine Omega from 2001  and a 3,2 engine Vectra from 2004.

Question concerning TIS wiring diagrams: is the wiring diagram option included to all TIS packages or is it an option? One shop claims having a genuine TIS on their machines without wiring diagrams?

How is the tech2 discussing with TIS? Just connects to computer with TIS or what?

Tech2 is made by Vetronix (the main part of the unit is made by HP).

TIS, since DVD, has wiring diagrams on for later cars (or at least UK versions do)

What do you want to do with it?

Main interests are to get live data from sensors, and, when I will win in a lottery, I will get me a CID + NCDC2015 to replace the current CCR2006 system. Also, naturally, will need the tech2 to reset eml time to time :) On the Vectra, not sure yet, but updating ICE is on the guys list

For live data, Opelscanner looks promising.  Little in way of programming though, so not CID pairing etc...

TB! does this Opelscanner work with the cheapo tech2 ie ELM327 etc? I have downloaded the prog and looks quite comprehensive.
