intermittent starting problem
« on: 06 June 2008, 22:21:15 »

my meega goes through spates of not starting and is getting more frequent (practically every day)
basically it will turn over fine but not fire , it does it every morning but will eventually fire up after loads of tries , but more often now it is doing it as and when it feels like it
it will turn over and the eml stays on but will occasionally dim at the same time as the car sort of gurgles but then it will come on solid again , when it does start it you can smell the unburnt petrol

i have tried the paperclip test and my cheapo tech 2 and im not getting any error codes, i was expecting a code 19,
when i bought the car it was described as having a cold/damp start problem which seemed true as when it rained it would play up but does it all the time now
HELP PLEASE

from the problems i had which are similar to yours, it turned out to be crank sensor, i had no eml or codes showing up on paperclip test. i did change cs and all was well.

but hopefully someone will comeback with a more positive solution :-/
