Sat Nav on Elite
« on: 04 June 2008, 12:32:31 »

Where can I find the model or type info for my Philips Carin system fitted in to the boot roof of my 3.0 Elite 1999 pre facelift. Is it possible to updae the software if needs  be, the system works almost fine on its present 1998 Navtech disc.

Welcome Dave,

Sory not an expert ont his issue, none of my two Omegas were Elites so no SatNav... but my understanding is that you can get an updated CD for the Carin system off eBay. Hopefully someone more experienced should be able to give more info shortly...

I don't know what the unit is, I have tken the cover off but I can't see any model nos that are meaningful. I see discs for sale on EBAY but they are defined by Carin model Nos and not by the car.

A new disc (genuine) will have any software updates on it, and these will be detected/installed the first time you run the new disc.

Odds on it's a 582 and Tele-atlas is the disc to go for.

As long as Carin is listed it will work. I have a 2005 disc in mine that came out of a Laguna :)

Is there a way of turning the destination guidance off, but still getting the sat nav to show the current road location and maybe point to the next main road.

Done that, and found the stand by setting.

Have had a good look through the settings and found all the system detail, also found part of the display shows the current volts, was showing 12.4 volts and my car battery was stuffed, so going to check it again now I have the new Vx GO battery fitted.
