Climate Control Bulbs
« on: 05 June 2008, 10:41:56 »

the fan speed bulb has packed up on my mv6 and is driving me mad! i have tried following TB's centre consol removal guide and have found that the metal releasing bar is broken its not held in on the drivers side

any ideas on how to remove the centre consol would be greatly appreciated

sure you have the right bar?  its very solid, there is a flimsy bit of metal up there as well that isnt related?

someone in the past had butchered mine, iirc there is a screw top centre which if the panel is a bit loose you may be able to access

thought so, thats not it, you are looking for a short solid square bar, couple of mm across, about 10cm long

Agree with Jimbob mate sounds like your pulling the wrong bar. I found by pushing the Climate Panel whilst pulling the bar down helped to release it.
You would also be best changing all the bulbs while you are there. Vauxhall may tell you there are 4, (our Vx did) but there is definately 5.. cost around £17 for all five but they had to order them in too :y

The bar in the Photo with the red arrow is the bar your looking for..the round bar like a piece of "welding wire" that you are pulling on is further back and has nothing to do with removing the panel.

Try holding a small mirror in there to see where the bar is.

A tip : when you have the panel out...put a cable tie around the bar before the panel goes back in, then if you need to have the panel out again just pull on the cable tie.
