Engine emission warning light on
« on: 07 June 2008, 23:00:40 »

Hi,
i have a 2002 2.6i CDX Est Auto, the engine emission warning light is on constantly, as of today. Does anyone know what the likely outcome is and whether or not the local garage will be able fix or will I need to take it to a Vauxhall dealer. It's done 140,000 miles. Any info appreciated. Thanks

I would get the codes read first. Chances are it's the cat efficiency warning which mainly plagues 3.2s but 2.6s have the same pre-cats. It's not a problem with MOT emissions and almost certainly not a lambda sensor problem, just a pain in the neck. It might be worth putting a bottle of cataclean through it though.

Yes, I would get codes read first, so at least you know what you are dealing with.
