intermittent non starter: help please 2.5CDX auto
« on: 19 June 2008, 19:45:11 »

Dear all

A few weeks ago I cured a chronic oil leak (camshaft covers) on my 1999 2.5CDX auto Omega estate that included cleaning lots of oil from plugs wells etc.

After this all went well, except now i get intermittent starting problems (hot and cold).
Based on advice on the forum i have checked:
- HT leads, Coil Pack, Paperclip test all OK, no faults found.

I still have the problem. The only thing I can suspect is I have twice removed the crank sensor, inspected and cleaned lots of oil from it!!!

Could this be the problem???

If so How do i remove the excess oil that is obviously swimming round between the flywheel and autobox (I could not see a drain plug??)

Any help or suggetions greatfully received... I love my 'bomber omega estate'  ;Dbut my wife is keen for me to 'sell' now the car is acting up >:(!!!!

Thanks N

Oh I forgot to add, it cranks over OK and runs fine once going... just an annoying failure to fire (and its very :-[ embarrassing sitting in the car while it whirs round without firing!!)

Thanks N
