oil leak
« on: 22 June 2008, 18:10:50 »

i have a bad oil leak coming from behind the crank pulley, as you rev the engine slightly you can see it spurting out, i guess there must be an oil seal gone. the question is will it be easy to fix or a bit of a nightmare? please help. :'(

Its not to bad to do but, requires removal of the cambelt.

You also have to rig up a bar to lock the cam belt sprocket as you cant lock the flywheel or it will sheer the woodruff key off the sprocket.

Seal replacement is not to hard as its easy enough to get out but, there is a metal spacer that the lip seal runs on, ideally you want to pop this off and turn it round but, it can sometimes get stuck.

Parts are not pricey, about a tenner for the seal adn 3-4 quid for a new bolt.
