face lift centre arm rest, lower button?
« on: 25 June 2008, 15:08:12 »

top button opens the lid, but bottom button does not seem to do anything, not used one before and only had car a month. A was assuming it would adjust the hight?
I suppose the mech. is buggerd? Whats the normal operation please guys? And is it likely to break again, if i lean on it to heavy. Tar

I noticed it presses in aswell but i dont think it specifically does anything, the armrest folds up and down freely and stays where its put without having to clip or unclip anything

i dont think theres any actual function of the bottom button thing, had it on both my facelifts, i wouldnt worry about it!

*goes for a look at this hitherto unnoticed beacon of gadgetry*

Can't find out what it does... *looks in handbook*

"To lower armrest fully - press the button on the bottom"...

*goes back out*

It's right! It gives you a whole extra 3mm of drop at the front if you engage the button while lowering the armrest! Wow!

Actually Your right, just had a play with it and it drops the front down about 1.5 cm on mine, well done that man :y.

Also noticed while playing with it, that if you lift the lid while folding it back it also acts as a tray for the rear passengers, never knew that one :-?.

cant imagine it being too strong, but in any case, my passengers aren't allowed the rear tray, cos its for folding down and resting my arm on!! ;D

Had mine in bits the other day in case the mech was broken but it seems to do very little other than allow the arm rest down another 20mm or so.

Perhaps it's a seat for a hamster (non-top gear type) ... or other pet rodent...
