Heard people mentioning it's a bad idea to get a cone filter which has to be oiled.  Very bad for the MAF sensor.  So be warned!

replacement performance panel filters can be oiled as well, I know the K&N ones are.

yep - I think the filter is pretty free flowing and the same as on all models so if it can cope with the flow on a 3.0 I would guess that there's not much improvement to be had from standard.

ever thought of a V6?

thats why i joined this forum common sense prevails i,ll leave it standard,thanks,, a v6 would be nice again i had one a couple of years back a cdx.!!!!

I have a Pipercross free flow filter on my 3.0 ltr MV6 and it appears to have made some difference it's smoother and seems to have better acceleration, the other beauty of them is you never have to replace them just wash them in soapy water dry them and reoil them, no more buying air filters.

I've yet to see an aftermarket filter that makes a positive improvement, as the std one is bloody massive anyway.  Most have a detrimental affect on perfromance, though the noise may make you think otherwise.  On the bigger engines, there is more to be gained (and lost), unlike the OP's 2.0l.

As you're running an oiled filter, just be careful, as the expensive MAFs don't like the oil.

Hence I stick to the std, genuine part...

Not a huge amount to be done on 2.0l performance wise without spending a bucketload...  ...breather and throttle body cleaner is one freebie worth doing, as well as lots of lovely oil changes
