My son has an old Peugeot 205, Saturday night it along with a Micra had the petrol tanks punchured, fuel taken. Both cars parked in private covered bays, police were called who said "it is on the increase due to the high price of fuel, with those cars very little chance of an explosion with a plastic tank". Two things, 1) Omega's have a plastic/rubber tank, watch out !!!, 2) What is the best repair kit for the Peugeot tank and just incase the Omega ??

Also happened to some friends here..disaster..

the friend waited 2 weeks for a new tank..

Best solution is never park in dark areas..may be repairable but

personally I wouldnt trust a repair..

That's not good.

With regard to repairing the tank, I would be very careful with many of the repair methods as they can contaminate the tank when refilled with fuel and block the fuel filter / pump.

I would imagine that some sort of 'plastic welding' would probably work on a plastic tank.  :-/

Hopefully my plastic fuel tank will be superfluous soon. Like to see them nick LPG from a tank in the boot. Bet they'd find a way though.

Can they defeat the excess flow valve?  If they try the tank, they'll be frozen to death...

sorry mate but if the car is fuel injection the tank on a hot day can be under massive pressure, volitile as petrol is with the repair failing and petrol spraying all over a nice set of either red hot exhaust pipes or brake discs/drums it just isnt worth the risk. :-/

try a scrap yard if time/price is an issue

Fuel tank under pressure?? Take the cap off and see.

High pressure is downstream of the pump.
