At a loss now PLEASE HELP
« on: 12 July 2008, 14:59:20 »

After rebuilding Fred117's engine, the EML light has come on, It wasn't on before the rebuild. Just a load rattle.

Had a Snap-solus plugged in yesterday and it said the cam sensor was dead. we have got another 1 and tried that and the car drives worse. It actually dies. I have autodata CD2 and have gone through the fault and componant testing and the wiring is fine, the sensor is reading within the correct tolerences. :'( :'( :'(

If anyone has any ideas please pm me and i'll give you my number  I'll call you I have 3000 x-network Free minutes to use. :y :y

Sorry I cannot help too much when it comes to miggy sensors (know too little about them!) but are you sure the 2nd cam sensor you tried is a good one?  I know, especially with second hand parts or patterns, that you can often have so called replacements that are worse than the failed unit you have removed!

May be you should just try yet another (new) sensor before going on with your fault finding. ;)  Hope this helps, but I bet others far more skilled on miggy's than me will soon be on to help! :y

Thanks Lizzie, I've checked both sensors and the original 1 comes within the stated resistances but the ELM is still on, The 2nd 1 is within the tolerances but the engine completely dies at 4000 rpm not just a rev limiter missfire. :-/

we checked the wiring from the ECU to the plug .. No breaks or damage as we can see, checked continuity, thats ok, checked the sensor and that reading as it should according to autodata CD2 :-/

Is the wiring in the plug ok?  No wires split or "pulled"?  Have you done a circuitry check with a meter, or is that what you meant by "continuity" check?

Silly question maybe, but as you "rebuilt" the engine have you set the cams correctly, with all timing marks lined up? :-/ :-/
