I think it's the V6 non-genuines that tend to be quite noisy (well Kwik Fit ones anyway).

If you have access to a trade card then it's usually cost effective to go the genuine route.

I had an "eternalcar" centre section (at £30, wouldn't you?), but had to add a local factors back box (£35) on the Saturday morning, half way through.  Looks right, fits very well, but a bit "tinny".

You pays your money and makes your choice.  Not arguing for the money...

I can totally believe the back box was toast once they disturbed thwe joints. This is how mine looked when I dod the cat-back replacement, nothing more than gravity required to separate them!

..doesn't say genuine on the ebay ad does it :-? (said Tyssen-Krupp on the one I looked at).

For an older car that is only worth a few hundred quid I reckon these and others at a similar price would be worth considering.   But if you are spending 200 quid plus in KF etc , better to go genuine.
I bought one of these £57 delivered to UK Cat back & CW all fittings +£25 to local garage to fit is. Absolutely nothing wrong at all since(despite filling the engine with water a year ago in the floods)
What is so special about a genuine GM exhaust? It is Gold plated? ;)
having previously only having had copy part exhausts on Omegas I have had...and currently having a full genuine Vaux one on the estate I have...the running and the sound of the genuine Vaux one is sooo much nicer and would highly recommend it :)

Some of the facelift omega bits esp. exhausts aren't covered on TC though are they? As you say mate, not much option other than to bite the bullet  :'( At least it should last well.

We do, and the aftermarket centre section on one of ours is a bit resonant at some parts of the rev range, only under load though. Apart from that, it's lasted well.

Mine looks exactly like the your old exhaust except for the single end pipe at the rear box as mine is a 1998 2.5 CDX Auto Saloon.

When you replaced yours, did you get a Vx CATs down set?  If so, were they identical to the old ones?

The reason for the question is that my replacement Vx Cats down kit does not look like the original (the square type with indented ribs) ones.  So disappointed with the Vx kit and on the hunt to get a set like the originals...

Cheers
