Front Wheel Bearings
« on: 26 June 2008, 13:07:31 »

Hi All
Can anyone tell me if the front wheel bearings on my 2001 2.6 Omega can be changed? I have been told that they cannot, and that the whole hub has to be replaced!  MOT tester mentioned that there was excessive play in front NS

Any Thoughts?  :-/

I believe thats the case on all models, and they aint cheap from Vx.

I thought I had wheel bearing problems on my Elite as I could hear a noise under braking and a slight noise on the move.  When it got jacked up for the MOT it turned out it was the chunky tread on the front tyres in my case.

But I had checked up on the prices from a car spares shop at £60  aside and was told you cant change wheel bearings on thier own.

Trade club they are listed.

post in general help, you'll get more come back there. There is also a recent thread on rear bearings in that section, may give you a clue. Had similar myself vx wants ton plus for bearing in the hub, i got hub from first line for a fraction. But apparantly the bearing can be pressed out with some gile and "home made tools".
