I've tried quite a few places to find a performance exhaust, the best way i have found to go is down the custom build one.
I have been quoted around £350 for a cat back system (single), or about £450 for a twin exhaust system.
Both systems come with a lifetime garauntee
Dunno if this helps
I did toy with stainless aswell and have had a price much the same as yours .... im not looking for a sporty noisey exhaust though .... i prefer the more quieter sound ... :-/

I would highly recommend joining AutobahnStormers to obtain their TC which automatically comes with your membership; £20 for the year. :y :y :y

For info on ABS:

Usually, judging from my experience and that of other oof members, your card will be through within days; I think two is the record! ;)

:'(  oh dear .... this car seems to be getting poorly .... loosing coolant aswell today .... appears to be the HBV..... i think i need to spend some money on her and get her fully checked over .... only had it for about 2 months ( bought from a garage ) and this is the third thing to have gone wrong , although they were fixed under warranty ... just getting a little frustrated with it now .... maybe needs to go in to VX for exhaust / service and get any software updates too ... my last one never missed a beat hence why i bought another one  :'(
