alarm keeps going off
« on: 14 July 2008, 19:15:48 »

Day or night, warm or cold, sometimes ok for a week sometimes every 5 mins. Tried disconnecting the hood catch, no help.
Can I just pull a fuse. And still keep the remote locking. I'm having to leave it unlocked at night.

disconnect the powersounder, its the black box located under the scuttle (drivers side)

its most likely the internal batteries failing which can cause this

I completely binned mine!  The alarm still works through the horn backup anyways, so it wont cause any issues there.

Try disconnecting the wires that run to the rear windows. The ones actually in the estate part of the car.

might be worth wrapping some tape or something around the bonnet switch to keep it held in just to try it

Do you, or have you heard 3 or 4 beeps when switching off the ignition?

Mine did this and it was a sign of the internal batery fainling in the power sounder

the panel is on the outside . black plastic between bottom of windscreen and top edge of the bonnet.you take the wipers off and then undo various little fasteners.afraid i dont know if batteries are renewable. :y

I've read mixed reports elsewhere about replacing these bateries some involved the unit catching fire.

I think the general concensus is either replace it (the whole unit) or disconnect it.

I'm sure the more experienced oof'ers will confirm or deny.

Thanks mike44755678. Pulling off the window plugs did it. Simplest fix ever. If only I could sort out the cooling so easily.
