Leaking V6 covers - there is another solution

I know that leaking rocker covers are nightmare, especially in V6. I was told that there is a way to save old bend covers. These need to be cut to release the tension between two parts. This method was checked and it’s working especially with warped covers when silicon just don’t help. It will not cause any leakage, as cut is not in any area in contact with oil.
All you have to do is cut each into to pieces, along the spark plug line, like shown on the photo. I know that is helps in hopeless situations so if anything else fails, try this method.  
If this solution was already discussed and it’s known for you, please omit this thread

still yet to see a warped one.  convinced its an urban myth made up by people who do not know how to fit...

Trouble with cutting by the plug wells is that you could get water ingress, the Y26/32se camcovers (slightly different due to the dis per bank design) had extra sealant applied across the rear centre because the factory discovered water ingress problems.

Shouldn't have to resort to cutting in half - if fitted properly and breathers clear shouldn't leak.

nah ive done a few on migs for friends and have never seen a bent one i reckon its just an excuse or an incompetent mechanic that doesnt understand the simple rule that you undo bolts in a certain order to prevent stressing

I have not seen them warped in that way, I have seen the long edge where the cam seal sits bowed out and this change would not help that.

If I did have this issue, I think I would just be cutting through the re-enforcing ribs and not the whole cover as that should have the same affect without resulting in two pieces.  :y

I think it might help. This method takes off the tension from two sides of cover and it would be wise to start from removing ribs.

I got this advie from good Vx mechanic and as I told you - im most cases refitting seal wil lhelp, but in some cases, it's the only solution before replacement.
I know that it dont work woth 2.6 and 3.2.
