Who has owned/driven both 2.5man and 3.0auto?

I would be interested to hear comments, specaily in regards to performance and consumption

Not quite....
But have 2 x 98 MV6 estates, both 3.0 1 auto, 1 manual.

Now we obviously have different driving styles.

There is very little performance difference, but the manual is a little quicker.  A good few mpg more economical as well  :y

my first omega was a 2.5 manual tourer very impressed
then got my auto mv6 3.0 bloody hell what a difference goes like the wind !! as for fuel costs hasnt made much difference get a bit more mpg on motorway in mv6 but thirster round town !!  :y

my driving is maybe 20-25% in town - not more. also i dont do more than 6000miles a year. am surprised to hear 3.0auto feels much faster

actually the reason i am asking is cause i noticed a nice and cheap one from july 2000 and am tempted

estate, leather, sunroof, 17 inch rims, sat nav with CID, bose, 90k miles with fsh :) no spoiler, no lsd :(

very rare to get an lsd on mv6 let alone an elite with auto box !! :-/
