key fob not working.

the keyfob has just stopped working on the girlfriends 2.5 CDX estate. >:(

now, nothing happened to the car, just the fob stopped working.

the lights are lighting up and everything.

why is this and how do i re-calibrate it again to get it working as everytime we lock and unlock with the key the alarm goes off.... :-[

any help will be great.

Put key in ignition,turn key until lights come on dash(dont start ) press button on key fob for a few secs,Think that works.

NOW............

the key fob for my pre-face MV6 is not the right one for the car as when i bought it it only came with the key.

i had a spare fob from an elite i broke a while back and i was wondering how to calibrate it to my car......

any help on this one????

Sorry you will have to wait for one of our more 'learned' friends to answer that one,i dont know if they are interchangeable as such ? New the first one cos its happened to me a few times (like when you have to change the battery)

I have the same problem with my keyfob,when i reset it, it works once or maybe twice and then stops working again. thought it was the battery but new battery has made no difference. :-/

Its an old 2 button type,can tech 2 talk to them ? :-/

You can re program the keys to the car by turning the key to II, and then pressing the buttons on the fob, but ONLY IF THE FOB CAME WITH THE CAR!

You cant re-program an extra fob / fob from a scrap car without tech2!

I guess you could swap over the central locking/alarm ECU though!

probably bad soldering between battery holder and pcb
