bar thingy and knocking noise
« on: 09 August 2008, 18:40:18 »

hi all

I have nocking coming from the fron t of my CDX estate 2.6
I have had a good look around and found that there seems to be a bit play in  the bar that seems to join a strut coming down the side of the front shockers, It looks and feesl like a good candidate for the noise which is road dependant, ie it happens when moving, in gear or out!

Whats this arm for?
Can I drive ok with the play in both ends at what looks like a little ball joint

Can I replace the ends or is it new struts or bar???

cheers

Hi Stu,

They are drop links, and have a ball joint top and bottom which is part of the drop link and cannot be change seperately.

These are the ones recommended by Mark DTM.

Agreed - drop links.  Replace both sides - around ½hr each side.  Pay around £7-£8 off ebaty.

Thanks guys,

Are these things the likely cause of the knocking?

Are they easy to change?
