Hi guys,
heres a situation to ponder over.
My 3.0 elite has always seemed to run hot on the gauge reading (between 97 & 100). Have checked out everything is working OK & temp drops back when fans switch in. Have always changed coolant every year. 50-50 mix GM pink. It does not however seem to be excessively hot when bonnet is lifted. So I have just learned to live with it.

Went to local breakers this morning. (Mate works there- had a cuppa & a natter) A mini face lift was there already robbed of most parts, but on the front seat was the "Clocks" module.
Give him a fiver for it and thought I would experiment & swap with my one just to see if I got the same reading on the temp gauge.
Quite an easy job - after readfing the maintenance guide on here - out in about 15 mins. Other one back in - in 10 mins.

I am gob smacked that this gauge reads betwwen 90 & 95 max after a decent run 20 miles was rock stedy at 92 ish.
So it seems there may be a tolerance on the gauges themselves and my original one runs HOT!
Have now switched back to original module and it is reading high as it was before. 97 -100
What do you think?
Regards Al
