Removing Oil filter
« on: 10 August 2008, 17:18:53 »

I need to get the oil filter housing off, to get access to the oil cooler to block unions.

Any ideas how this is done with the later paper type oil filter?

Currently outside with all the tools, awaiting removal :y

Remove the oil filter cap, then the oil filter element and then i think it was a large allen key :-/ found inside which you remove and the main housing comes away.
I had to do this on mine to remove the same pipes ;)

Yes, it does look like an alan key fitting, in the centre.
Don't suppose anyone knows (or can look up) the correct size? Unfortunately I don't seem to have one that fits :(

10mm is the biggest I have, and it's too small.

If anyone can check it would be much appreciated :y

T*S doesn't say the size of fastner but does say 45Nm for housing to block and 25Nm for housing cover if that will help for refit :y

)ps also says new seal rings aswell but i'm sure you can just re-oil & refit ::))
