Driver door window regulator
« on: 12 August 2008, 23:42:50 »

Fun Fun Fun. :'(
My door stay broke off and decided to lodge itself against the window  regulator, subsequently bending this when I put the window down. (Iknow, but it was hot and I forgot about the metal thing clanging in my door!  :-[)
Anyone had this problem and know how easy it is to replace / fix?
I had a quick look and it seems I would have to take the airbag out to get to it.
My only other option is to get it bashed in a carpark adn claim for a new door!
Cheers Kev.

There isn't an air bag in the door.

If its post 98, the bottom section is a sensor for the airbag system.  Follow the airbag precautions before working on it...

The precautions being? I was hoping to be able to pull the wires, drill out the rivets, replace the regulator and attempt to put it all back together as easy as it came apart!

What you are thinking of is fairly spot on.

As per precautions - I always disconnect the battery when dealing with anything like this. Its also advisable to wait for 10 minutes ( according to Haynes) after disconnecting the battery.

Personally i leave it a bit longer just to be safe.
