Elite wing mirror - how to get the right one?
« on: 21 August 2008, 12:22:18 »

HI all - many months ago some idiot smacked into my passenger side mirror and broke the casing off, which is beyond repair.

Due to the way the mirror is constructed, I need to get a whole assembly; Vx want £300 for this. Therefore, eBay should be my friend.

How do I make sure I get the correct mirror for a facelift Elite with heated electric mirror that has memory? It is not auto-folding however.

There's one I'm thinking of bidding on but the seller says they don't know if it's heated, only that it is has 5 wires going to the plug.

Thanks.

All of the mirrors are heated as standard as far as I know.  My mini facelift GLS even had heated mirrors.  Don't know about the motorised memory bit though.

Yip had the same problem with my Elite, had to wait 2 months until someone came on fleebay to sell an elite one. Don't think motorised ones were in the UK, so only leaves 2 choices, electrical but no memory and electrical with memory. Think there is more than 5 wires, not 100%

My mirrors are'nt heated on my "sport". No little button on the mirror switch (this the usual place, right?). And on the drivers side mirror, actually on the glass is like a small heated mirror symbol, but nowt on the passenger side :S

They are all heated.  Button/LED was removed mini-facelift (i think) and instead they operate with the heated rear screen.  My 98 has no button/LED and mirrors are definately heated.

Yep, they operate on the rear window heater button.  Only the drivers side mirror will have the heating symbol in the glass.

I have just been raking around in my garage where I keep a lot of spare parts, and I've just found a Passenger side facelift mirror which if fully electric, I got it a few months ago from a facelift elite which was being broken at my local scrappy, It dosen't have any glass in it and it's a maron red colour but the colour coded parts can be swapped over from your excisting mirror so you don't have to paint it,
Open to offer!!!!!
