I think you failed to set the tension on the belt before you turned over.

My advice would be to try to turn the crank back to TDC, and the cams back to get the cam locks in.  turn cams and crank carefully - if you get resistance (i.e. values and pistons meeting) then you have problems! do not force it

Don't turn the crank backwards with the belt on.

Best course of action is to remove the belt, turn the crank to either 60 degrees before or after the TDC position, whichever is closest and lock the cams back in their correct positions, then turn the crank back to the TDC position and fit the belt again.

If, at any point, there is resistance to turning anything, don't force it.

When you start, the cut out on the bottom pulley should be at 6 o clock, and cam 1 lmarking ined up with rear cambelt cover, and so on for the other cams..

Can you confirm this is/was the case?

There are numbers on all the cam markings, starting from number 1, the numbers 1 through to 4 respectively need to line up with the rear cover marks...

1, 2, 34, 34 are in the same alignment, now about a 1/4 of a turn round where its met with resistance

Whatever you do, do not force it.

as to the cam timing, you need, working from left to right, mark 1 on left, then mark 2, then mark 3 then mark 4 on the right hand cam.  It is very easy to get the wrong marking lined up.  you think it is right but it is not.

sorry but I'm not around this weekend but possibly can help out next weekend if you want, depends where you are, Reading is good for me.

If i were you (and I was in exactly your position recently) I would want an experienced eye to look at this

If you take some pics and load them up maybe we can help remotely.

Just take your time and you will get there
