how to remove colour screen plugs
« on: 24 August 2008, 17:06:58 »

colour screen on my elite. How do the plugs come off. 1 large 1 small both grey and with clasp , i think, holding it in.  Cant lay it flat koz the cable is not long enough.
So cant really see the back of the plugs, got a mirror but still not sure. I dont want to force it. Cheers.

You pull the locking lever up IIRC

Yes, each has a locking lever, that pulls up. Sometimes you have to press a raised area of plug just above lever

Yeah, done it now. Broke the small clasp, arse. There is a tab on the plug holding it in place, as you say. I thought i had it pressed in while i lifted the locking lever, had a couple of goes with my spare set of hands but broke the bugger. They gave me the wrong bulbs anyway, i got 3 small brown ones, i need 4 large yellow ones. So i will see if i can get a new clasp/locking lever, while i am there. Cheers guys.
Oh by the way, i notice the tow bar and child seat warning bulbs are missing, and look like they where never in there as the circuit board is not  scratched by the bulb lugs. I presume thats normal? I put the spare bulbs i had in there as i intend to get a tow bar, sorry, pikey bar, at some point. Presumeably thats not a problem?

not all warning bulbs are populated, as you say towbar and seatbelt warning are 2 left empty normally

THe child seat (well VX ISOfit that disables the passenger airbag) warning lamp is in the centre of the central reading lamps, should flash amber when you turn the ignition on.
