Hi,
My cruise control has not worked at all since i got the car in Jan 2007. An X reg (November 2000) 2.5 v6 Elite Automatic, (94k miles).
In ignorance (before i found this wonderful forum) I though it might be the actuator motor, so bought a second hand one off fleabay and fitted it. Cruise still does not work. The ribbon is intact on both original and new actuator motor and all mechanical connections (Bowden cable?) are in place and fitted properly with correct gaps etc, and mechanically should work etc.
I asked the main stealers to look into it when i took it to them for service last year (silly me but I was new to omega's at the time).
They did a tech 2 and Vauxhall stealers report was, and I quote as follows (as far as I can read the writing):-
"Req time to check cruise control = 1.0 hours = £105.75p. No trouble codes FO data clock cruise control not allowed. Has any work been carried out on this before".
I now have 2 weeks off work and want to get this sorted. Can anyone tell me what should I check in what order and how do I do it?
I guess the first thing is the stalk - maybe check it is still plugged in properly (all other controls work ok). Then the Brake switch?
Is there a way of independantly checking the actuator just in case both of mine a duff? I gather they do not usually need a tech 2 to install new ones so would expect that the fault is more with the car than the actuator.
Any help greatfully appreciated.
Thanks.
I live in Surrey south london, anyone around here got a tech 2 that can investigate perhaps if needed? Beer tokens provided of course!
